Thunderbird lodge grand canyon history2/18/2024 ![]() Park weather can surprise visitors, given the rim's altitude of more than 7,000 feet above sea level. After a fresh snowfall, the canyon looks like an epic orange layer cake with vanilla frosting. To avoid the crowds altogether, visit in the slow season from November to February (not holidays), and potentially get treated to a phenomenal snow-covered version of the park. Once at the South Rim, hop on ADA-compliant shuttle buses that operate on four routes for easy access to viewpoints, trailheads, lodging and dining (though lines can be long at bus stops in peak seasons). Amtrak stops at Williams and farther south at Flagstaff, where it offers shuttle service to the park. Or for a particularly fun way to get there, ride the Grand Canyon Railway to the South Rim from Williams in old-time Pullman cars, a journey popular with older adults. You can also detour to the East Entrance via AZ 64, and then take a scenic 25-mile-drive along the canyon to reach the South Rim. If you visit then, avoid traffic, parking hassles and lines at the South Rim entrance by taking a free shuttle bus from Tusayan, about a 20-minute ride to that gate's South Rim Visitors Center. Summer months and holidays are the park's busiest times. ![]() Save time at the gate by buying a digital pass in advance at, or from an outlet in the towns of Tusayan, the South Rim gateway just a mile outside the park, or Williams, 60 miles south. Admission is $35 per vehicle, good for seven days ($20, Annual Seniors Pass for ages 62 and older). The North Rim closes November through April, but the rest of the park remains open year round. The eastern entrance, a lesser-trafficked gate, lies about a 25-mile drive from the South Rim facilities, while Grand Canyon West is a Hualapai tribal development outside of GCNP's boundaries with a glass-bottom scenic skywalk jutting precariously over the canyon cliff, as well as a zipline, rafting excursions, cultural demonstrations, food and lodging. ![]() It also hosts most of the facilities, on-site lodging and activities, and is more easily accessed than the North Rim. You can visit the 277-mile-long canyon from entrances on the North, South, East and West rims, but the South Rim entrance receives about 90 percent of visitors. GCNP is located in northern Arizona about 80 miles from both Flagstaff to the southeast and the Utah border to the north, 230 miles from Phoenix to the south, and 275 miles from Las Vegas to the west. While GCNP doesn't track visitor statistics by age group, it's revealing that those ages 65 and older represent about half of the guests at the eight lodging facilities in and around the park operated by the Xanterra Collection, according to Hinch Knece, the company's marketing director. From bus tours and easy strolls along the canyon rim, to the famed mule rides or educational ranger programs, helicopter rides flying above it all, and rafting tours in the Colorado River, there's something for everyone. Visitors can experience the Grand Canyon's grandeur in ways as varied as the canyon's rocky ridges. But naturalist John Muir tried: “I cannot tell the hundredth part of the wonders of its features - the side canyons, gorges, alcoves, cloisters and amphitheaters of vast sweep and depth, carved in its magnificent walls the throng of great architectural rocks it contains resembling castles, cathedrals, temples and palaces, towered and spired and painted, some of them nearly a mile high, yet beneath one's feet." This natural wonder has an overwhelming presence that must be experienced in person, as even the best photos and words can hardly do it justice. ![]() The Grand Canyon's majesty is much more than just facts and figures. And it is indeed a “grand” canyon: Carved from millions of years of the Colorado River's powerful waters, the multicolored layers of eroded rock drop a full mile of elevation from the rim, split by a chasm averaging 10 miles wide, overlooking 277 miles of a river that has challenged rafters since John Wesley Powell's legendary pioneering journey in 1869. Nowadays, Grand Canyon National Park (GCNP), with its 1.2 million acres of sweeping landscapes, raging rapids and winding trails, is well on its way to fulfilling Teddy Roosevelt's desire, welcoming more than 6 million visitors annually. should see.” He declared the Grand Canyon a national monument in 1908, with it finally achieving national park status in 1919 after a long political battle with powerful local mining interests. one of the great sights which every American. is absolutely unparalleled throughout the rest of the world. En español | President Teddy Roosevelt visited the Grand Canyon in 1903, telling applauding crowds at the South Rim that “Arizona has a natural wonder which.

Not getting enough deep sleep fitbit2/18/2024 I either miss evening activities or I pay for it with sleep deprivation. The challenge has always been on the other side…going to bed early. I’m a morning person so getting up this early isn’t a problem. Currently, my alarm is set at 3:54am, but I’m usually awake at least ten minutes before it goes off. Over the years, I’ve had different wake-up times ranging between 2:30am to 4:30am. ( Here’s a list of 29 helpful tips to improve your sleep) In fact, that’s the thing that interests people most about what I do…what time I wake up. That’s what happens when you do morning radio. The overall snoring and noise levels are rounded up as a summary at the top.I’m at work before most people are awake. You’ll get an overview of the noises you were making at night and at what time, as well as some context about what your results mean. If you’ve turned on snore and noise detection, tap the Snore Report link on any individual day to see what your Fitbit smartwatch microphone detected while you were snoozing. These extra factors, including time spent asleep, have more detailed breakdowns inside the app, as well as more information to help you interpret them. Your sleep score should be more accurate with a Premium subscription too, because it includes more factors-the level of your snoring being one of them (Fitbit has a full list of what Premium offers). If you’re not getting to sleep at the same time every night, for example, you might see a popup alert suggesting that you try to build a routine. Sign up for a Fitbit Premium subscription, and you’ll get access to a few more insights and recommendations regarding your slumber. Digging deeper into Fitbit’s sleep tracking features Fitbit Premium subscribers get access to more data, such as detailed information about the sounds you make at night. Your sleep score will be broken down into different sections, including restoration-a measure of how recharged your body should be the next day. It essentially rates the quality of your sleep when all of its measurements have been taken into consideration. The Fitbit rounds up several metrics-heart rate, movement, stages of sleep-into one overall sleep score for the night. If your smartwatch can measure blood oxygen saturation, you’ll see how this fluctuated over the course of the night too. You can also look back on your 30-day averages, as well as the common ranges for people who match your gender and age. You’ll then get a full chart showing what times you were in which stages of sleep, helping you spot particular spells of restlessness. On the app’s main screen, you can scroll down to see how much sleep you got overnight, together with a breakdown of the different stages-REM, light, and deep. When you rise bright and refreshed in the morning (we hope), your Fitbit will register that you’re awake and stop tracking your sleep. What to check when you wake upįitbit will break your sleep into different stages. ![]() From the same screen under the cog icon, you can set your sleep goals and have the Fitbit app remind you when it’s time to turn in for the night (based on the bedtime and wake up times you’ve set). Make sure Detect Snoring is turned on if you want to use this feature.īear in mind that listening for noises uses more battery, so Fitbit recommends that your smartwatch has at least a 40 percent charge remaining before you go to bed. From the main screen in the Fitbit app, tap the sleep entry on the list (it will be labeled with how much shut-eye you got the previous night), then tap the cog icon in the top right corner. One setting you might want to check in advance, if you’re a Premium subscriber using a Versa 3 or a Fitbit Sense, is the aforementioned snore detection. Assuming you’ve already set up the device and connected it to your phone, all you’ll have to do is wear it when you turn in for the night-the wearable will automatically detect when you doze off and when you wake up. You won’t need to do much preparation to get your Fitbit to track your sleep. What to do before you sleep Fitbit gives you a sleep score each night. We’ll cover all of those features here, though the screens you’ll see at home may vary depending on your device and whether or not you’re a Premium subscriber. This helps inform your overall sleep score to measure how soundly you’ve slept. ![]() If you have one of the two top-end Fitbit smartwatches-either the Fitbit Sense or the Fitbit Versa 3-as well as Fitbit Premium, you can also access snore detection, a feature that listens for snoring and other noises at night. ![]() If you’re a Fitbit Premium subscriber ($10 a month or $80 a year) you’ll get personalized insights and recommendations about how to improve your sleep, and a more detailed breakdown (a sleep score) of your slumber. All of the gadgets Fitbit currently sells can track your sleep if you wear them at night.

Rockstar games twitter gta 62/18/2024 ![]() More than 80,000 retweets, more than half a million likes, and over 20 million impressions have been received by Rockstar’s tweet including the whole teaser in less than a day. ![]() Its corporate overlords seem confident, though. If you follow Rockstar Games, you are aware that the “Hello was unusual for them. Rockstar officially announced GTA 6 last year, and hype levels are borderline religious, so it has some lofty expectations to live up to. With the message “Hello watch Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1,” Rockstar Games sent the whole clip on Twitter about twenty-four hours after it first appeared on YouTube. After an earlier report that the first look at Grand Theft Auto 6 will debut next month, developer Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the news.Sam Houser posted a new message on the Rockstar. There is no concrete evidence to support the rumors that Twitter/X was purposefully “shadowbanned” the tweet, despite what some accounts stated. The Tweet was “unavailable” for some users for an unidentified reason, as first reported by VideoTech. We have firsthand knowledge of this, as do many others. Strangely, some users began receiving the error message “This Post is unavailable” in response to a tweet from Rockstar Games that linked to the GTA VI video on YouTube. The well-known content producer Marques Brownlee was among the many individuals who replied, “Impressions are not views.” which is true. One Twitter user said, “They should have uploaded directly on this platform for maximum distribution,” in response to the GTA 6 teaser going viral on YouTube. Drop that trailer here - give the people on what they want!!” Hopefully this means that GTA 6 should not be affected by it.- gaming is one of our most popular topics. Rockstar Games officially confirmed it was working on Grand Theft Auto 6 in February 2022. That means that Rockstar is not using up any development resources for this RDR re-release. The port is not developed by Rockstar internally, but instead by Double Eleven Studios, which has been developing ports for over ten years. It's not only this fact, which should appease fans. After Rumors: Red Dead Redemption "Remaster" Reveal Is A Huge Disappointment. ![]() Still cool! But it doesn't look like we're getting a full remaster after all. ![]() Rockstar officially announced that Red Dead Redemption is coming back! Exciting news, right? Well, unfortunately we're in for a disappointment, as this new version is "just" a port for PS4 and Switch. UPDATE: Thankfully, the concerns seem to be proven false. Fans were therefore also expecting a first official announcement for 2023. Since the earnings call of Take-Two, the publisher behind GTA was quite optimistic for the financial year 2025, which people took this to be a hint for a Grand Theft Auto 6. GTA 6 Will Most Likely Be Unplayable For Millions Of Gamers On Release.CMoVtymdCe- Gaming Detective July 1, 2023 We desperately need something new from Rockstar. Rockstar Games has announced it will finally debut its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal trailer in December 2023. I really hope they hold off with rereleases until after GTA 6 comes out. If Rockstar was to announce and release a Red Dead Redemption remaster this fall/winter, we would not get a GTA 6 announcement until 2024. This quickly set off alarm bells for fans, who expected that Rockstar using resources for an RDR remaster would internally delay the development and announcement of GTA 6. | © Rockstar GamesĪs you've might heard, Red Dead Redemption was rumored to get a remaster! At least according to an insider and the Korean ratings board. Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive has sparked more GTA 6 release speculation after making some big predictions about the following year. Will The GTA 6 Release Be Influenced By RDR Re-Release? A Red Dead Redemption re-release is coming.

Automile motors reviews2/18/2024 ![]() The deletion of parts on a vehicle is an easy way for designers and vehicle owners to reduce parasitic and frontal drag of the vehicle with little cost and effort. Streamlining the body requires assumptions about the surrounding airspeed and characteristic use of the vehicle. Lowering the drag coefficient comes from streamlining the exterior body of the vehicle. Too much lift can cause the vehicle to lose road traction which can be very unsafe. Lift is an aerodynamic force that acts perpendicular to the airflow around the body of the vehicle. A potential complication of altering a vehicle's aerodynamics is that it may cause the vehicle to get too much lift. The drag coefficient is a unit-less value that denotes how much an object resists movement through a fluid such as water or air. The two main factors that impact drag are the frontal area of the vehicle and the drag coefficient. The reduction of drag in road vehicles has led to increases in the top speed of the vehicle and the vehicle's fuel efficiency, as well as many other performance characteristics, such as handling and acceleration. A common way to measure the drag of the vehicle is through the drag area. ![]() There are many different ways to reduce the drag of a vehicle. Reducing the drag coefficient in an automobile improves the performance of the vehicle as it pertains to speed and fuel efficiency. Aerodynamic drag increases with the square of speed therefore it becomes critically important at higher speeds. When automobile companies design a new vehicle they take into consideration the automobile drag coefficient in addition to the other performance characteristics. The drag coefficient of an automobile measures the way the automobile passes through the surrounding air. Drag is a force that acts parallel to and in the same direction as the airflow. The drag coefficient is a common measure in automotive design as it pertains to aerodynamics. ![]() Resistance of a car to moving through airĮdmund Rumpler's 1921 Tropfenwagen was the first series-produced aerodynamically designed automobile, before the Chrysler Airflow and the Tatra 77.

Nikon camera control pro 2.262/18/2024 ![]() The camera’s intuitive controls for manual focus aid and EVF design mean that you can comfortably and efficiently shoot without straining to see what’s in focus.Īdditionally, the SL has a database of all Leica M lenses, meaning that it has profiles to correct for lenses’ optical errors such as vignetting, distortion, and color aberrations. ![]() Ask anyone with a Leica 50mm 0.95 Noctilux-M what camera they use it on, and they’ll most likely tell you it’s an SL or SL2. The SL’s strong performance with Leica M-lenses meant that it was essentially the modern Leica M camera that no one expected in 2015. I soon did all of my photography like this and the transition away from Sony’s autofocus systems was painless. Coming from a Leica M9-P rangefinder, I was surprised by how natural and quick it felt to use the SL’s magnification button to aid my manual focus using the EVF. I also adapted my style of photography to allow myself to slow down and manually focus with precision and speed. Otherwise, any other mirrorless system would serve a photographer better with more competent autofocus and lens choice flexibility.īefore I could afford any of the SL lenses, I used the SL exclusively with adapted M lenses. Practically speaking, the only reason a photographer would choose to use gear from the L-mount alliance is because they prefer the image quality and user experience from Lumix and Leica bodies, and the world-class image quality only Leica SL lenses can provide. Lumix’ lenses are nearly as heavy as their Leica counterparts, so you run into another compromise there. Subject tracking performance on the Leica SL (Typ 601) is subpar to modern standards. The L-mount camera manufacturers’ reluctance to incorporate hybrid (phase + contrast-detect) autofocus systems means that autofocus performance in general on the L-mount bodies are easily beaten by autofocus systems from other top mirrorless brands, such as Sony, Fujifilm, Canon, and Nikon. Many of Sigma’s L-mount lenses based on HSM designs do not operate well using continuous autofocus on the SL and Lumix S bodies. In my opinion, the idea behind the alliance is well-intentioned, but the execution is less than ideal. The cameras and lenses share a compatible lens mount and autofocus-enabled lenses can autofocus on every L-mount camera body. The cross-compatible lens/body alliance between Sigma, Panasonic (Lumix), and Leica allows for photographers to access greater varieties of focal lengths, and prioritize if they want to spend more of their money on camera bodies or lenses.įrom the cheapest L-mount APS-C cameras to the top-of-the-line Leica SL2, every L-mount lens is compatible across the platform. So, when I heard that the Leica SL was released in late 2015, I was surprised that Leica even attempted to break into a camera market so heavily dominated by Sony.īut for photographers on a budget who don’t necessarily need the very best optics, but still want autofocus capability on the SL, the L-Mount alliance answers that need adequately, but not exceptionally well. The Sony’s were the cameras to take out to make money and get a job done, but they were never cameras I enjoyed using for the reasons mentioned above. In 2016, I also had a Leica M9-P that I was just starting to get used to and enjoy for my personal work. I carried at least four batteries on a shoot to feel comfortable. But, I absolutely hated them because skin tones coming out of their RAW files were inaccurate, their button layouts were infuriatingly hard to remember and access in a hurry, and battery life was dreadful. I enjoyed that they were quick, capable, and their autofocus was often reliable, even back in the II generation of a7 bodies. I shot with 3 Sony A7 bodies but had mixed feelings about them at the time. ![]() In 2016, I had just finished my second year of photographing portraits professionally. I’m going to take my time writing my story with the Leica SL, because it’s been a large part of my own personal story. If you’re only here to see sample images, please go right ahead and continue scrolling down.

Air max 90 golf shoe2/18/2024 Along with himself, the Chicago 1s that he wears actually changes as well. Toward the end of the film, Miles Morales begins glitching as he spends more time in a universe that isn’t his. However, what was most impressive about this pair (at least in my eyes), was its integration into the actual movie. While the first pair focused on comic-book-style patterns to pay homage, this one utilizes a number of unique glitch stylings to stand out. Ben Feldersteinįor the second time, Jordan Brand teamed up with the Spider-Verse franchise to remix the iconic Air Jordan 1 “Chicago.” This time around, the collaboration leaned heavily into the concept of multiverse travel highlighted all throughout Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. These are the best examples of Air Jordans this year. Jordan Brand still knows how to step up and flawlessly execute a retro bringback, or tweak it when said retro has become all too familiar. Jordan Brand’s biggest pop culture partners like J Balvin and Travis Scott are still cranking out releases, to varying degrees of success. What else is left off here? Sneakers that didn’t get a proper retail release were omitted, and some of the more ubiquitous general releases that just didn’t feel special enough (“Thunder” Air Jordan 4s, we see you) were left out on the bubble.Įnough about what didn’t work, though, and more on what did. The concept didn’t quite translate, though, and the sneaker has sat on shelves, unlike other popular “Reimagined” retros like the “White/Cement” Air Jordan 3. ![]() One perfect example is the Air Jordan 1 “Royal Reimagined”-a remix of materials for an iconic and original colorway beloved by many. ![]() But there are certain pairs on paper that feel like they should have been hits that ended up missing the mark. The group overall is not too surprising, it includes a mixture of returning originals, new colorways of retro models, and time-tested collaborations that always hit the mark. The landscape of Air Jordans in 2023-which are the best and which don’t quite make the cut-may be more interesting and notable for the latter group more than the former.

The late ’70s and ’80s saw the development of numerous studio-grade chorus rack units including the Roland Dimension D, Yamaha SPX90, T.C. The CE-1 featured a high and low input switch and knobs for level control, chorus intensity and vibrato depth & rate. In 1976, Boss released the famed CE-1 (Chorus Ensemble) pedal and the effect became accessible to even more guitar players. The solid-state Jazz Chorus featured a relatively low cost compared to tube amplifiers by rivals Fender and Marshall, and it became a favorite among guitarists playing a wide range of genres ranging from funk, to post punk and even metal. In 1975 Roland released the Jazz Chorus amplifier which had the effect built in. Other organs and synthesizers included a similar effect and the chorus sound remained a somewhat commonly used sonic texture throughout the late ’60s and early ’70s. ![]() Check out this wonderful resource on ADT directly from the Abbey Road Website. The Beatles and their brilliant engineering team utilized this technique extensively on Revolver and on many subsequent albums. The effect was dubbed Artificial Double Tracking, or ADT. Townsend employed a second tape machine which played back the original recording slightly out of sync with the first, while also using an oscillator to alter the playback speed of the second machine, resulting in a chorus-like effect. Displeased with the tedium of having to overdub his vocals, John Lennon repeatedly asked Ken Townsend if he could come up with a technical alternative. This generated a sound that was perceived to be richer, fuller and with more depth.Īnother ingenious use of this type of effect, although created in a much different way, was by engineers at Abbey Road Studios on recordings by (you guessed it) The Beatles. Hammond’s BC organ featured a “chorus tone generator,” which created a second note that was slightly out of tune with the first. ![]() ![]() It’s arguable that the first chorus effect was found within Hammond Organs in the 1930s.
